A Dangerous Mind
One of the great mommy quotes that I find myself struggling not to spew is "If you had any brains, you'd be dangerous". It is mean, which is why I would never say it aloud to Joe's children. As for my mother saying it to me, I probably laughed at her, thinking that I was smarter than she. What kid doesn't think that?
What I have in books smarts, street smarts and common sense, I lack in knitting smarts. I have yet to take the waist shaping lessons I have learned and apply them to real knitting situations.
In February 2005, I debuted Honeymoon Chic, the ChicKami with a Honeymoon Cami bottom. Later, I decided that the lacework was wrong for the garment, and I reworked 2x2 ribbing. The revamped version (right) was better, but I was still bothered by the baggy waist and skinny straps. As a result, I rarely wear it.
While I was hemming and hawing over the destiny of Frilly Milly yesterday, I took no prisoners with the ChicKami. Thankfully, no one can hear the sound of yarn screaming...particularly over fireworks. I settled on re-using the yarn for the Tank with 3D Crochet Embellishments from Knitting Lingerie Style. This will not be the most interesting pattern to knit or to wear, but it may well be the basic tank of my dreams. The neckline is open and flattering, but not so open as to raise eyebrows at work.
Since "the Tank with 3D Crochet Embellishments" is quite the mouthful, I have dubbed it Tarty Tank. How clever!
